CMED New Haven Executive Director John Gustafson has accepted a position with the State of Connecticut
Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. He will be taking on duties for the newly created position
of Emergency Telecommunications Manager for the department. John was the second employee ever hired by CMED at its inception
and served as the Center's Supervisor and later Executive Director for 31 years. He will begin his new duties with the
State on October 10, 2008.

The CMED System is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Established in 1977 as
the result of a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to improve the quality of Emergency Medical Services Communications
and to support the establishment of Paramedic Level Service in the Greater New Haven area. Since its establishment,
the agency has been directly responsible for or had a significant impact on the development of the second to none pre-hospital
emergency care system that is enjoyed by the residents and visitors to the Greater New Haven area.
